Ema Nohalova is the founder of Ema Design, where a lifelong passion for dance and fashion is transformed into bespoke ballroom costumes of elegance, movement, and individuality. She began both dancing and designing at the age of four, and from those early years developed a unique artistic vision shaped equally by performance and craftsmanship.

Born in Bratislava, Ema studied fashion design at an art high school while building a successful career as an international competitive ballroom dancer representing Slovakia. She later earned her Master’s degree in Art, continuing to balance academic discipline with professional performance.

Her career has taken her across multiple creative worlds. Ema has designed for theater productions, celebrities on the Slovak and Taiwanese versions of Dancing with the Stars, and top ballroom champions in Italy. In Taiwan, she became a multi-year Latin American Dance Champion and expanded her brand by opening Ema Design in Taipei.

Because she spent her dance career performing exclusively in her own creations, Ema brings an exceptional understanding of what dancers truly need from a costume: beauty, precision, comfort, and the ability to move flawlessly on the floor. She also contributed to costume design for the American film The Performance, starring Jeremy Piven, in collaboration with designer Alessandro Lai.

Now based in New York City, Ema Design creates custom ballroom costumes for dancers throughout the United States.
